I focused on sports media this week after BYU's big win against Wisconsin. I was listening and watching the game with a different perspective. I thought it was interesting how the announcers were obviously very bias and wanted Wisconsin to win. BYU was the underdog and it was obvious that they weren't expected to win, but at the end of the game, instead of calling it an "incredible win for BYU," the announcers called it a "devastating loss for Wisconsin." Although it bothered me that they couldn't accept the huge win and what a big deal this was for us, I found it hilarious. We went back and watched the game again after we knew they won and it was so funny to see how pro-Wisconsin the announcers were. That's what made the win so much sweeter.
I honestly had never really listened to podcasts before until the past month or so but I have fallen HARD for them. We live in Eagle Mountain and I work in Lehi but I have class 4 days a week in Provo so I spend a lot of time in my car. I didn't realize how much time I spent listening to music before until I started listening to podcasts that are actually teaching me something. I feel like I'm spending my time so much better as I listen to them. My husband and I love listening to Dave Ramsey and it inspires us to keep living on a budget and to keep saving for a house so I love hearing his podcasts where people call in and have paid off their houses and they are like 30 years old. Sorry, rant over haha. But Dave Ramsey podcasts are great! Share any podcast recommendations you have below!! :)
amen! I always like rooting for the underdog because of that exact reason! Go BYU!
ReplyDeleteI will read anything that says sports. :) Such an amazing game. Glad BYU shoved it to the announcers and everyone else (including myself cause let's be real, sometimes BYU football is a little rough).
ReplyDeleteI was so glad we won! But I love you're talk on how bias the media can be sometimes. Regardless whether it is sports or the news, many times people on the media give the part they want you to see and hear.
